Summer in the City
Visiting Manchester during the summer is great fun and this year, more than ever before, the opportunity to safely enjoy the city is one we are all looking forward to.
As soon as it is safe to do so, we can't wait to welcome you to Manchester with a fantastic programme of events and all the usual delights of wonderful places to eat and drink, attractions to visit and experiences to enjoy.
There is a varied programme of events planned for this summer kicking off in May with the Manchester Flower Show (29 May - 6 June), followed by Manchester Jazz Festival (11 - 13 June), with the highlight of the year being the biennial Manchester International Festival taking over the city for 18 extraordinary days from 1 - 18 July. Manchester Pride ends the summer in style from 27 - 30 August. Plus, HOME's new city-centre outdoor venue, Homeground, will launch on 28 May. The brand-new venue will host theatrical, music, cabaret, and comedy performances in one of two specially designed outdoor theatres. Homeground will also welcome a variety of well-loved food and drink vendors, meaning it will be the ideal place to spend time in the city 's sun.
The long balmy summer evenings will provide plenty of opportunity to enjoy the many al fresco places to eat in Manchester and the pedestrianisation of many roads across the city, means there is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. Check out Escape to Freight Island and Hatch, offering a variety of food vendors and drinks, to be enjoyed in the sun or undercover.
Make time to enjoy one of the many tours around the city. Discover Manchester's food and drink scene including the multi-tasting Scranchester ‘Eat the City ' tour or Craft Beer Tour Manchester. Explore the hidden side of Manchester on a Skyliner Street Art Tour, or join a ‘Discover Manchester walking tour', departing from Central Library at 11am every Friday to Sunday.
And rest assured, when you see the 'We're Good to Go' mark, you 'll know that the business has taken the necessary measures and is operating in line with Government guidelines. Keep safe, keep smiling, summer is on its way.
